A compression load cell is a sensor that measures the compressive force applied to it, used in applications such as weighing silos, pile load tests, and vehicle scales.
Compression load cells work by detecting deformation caused by an applied force and converting this deformation into an electrical signal, which can be measured and analyzed using specialized equipment and displayed digitally.
Compression load cells are categorized by how the sensor deflects under strain, bending or compressing as opposed to tension load cells which are pulled apart. Examples of compression-type load cells include canister, beam, shear web, single point, and pancake types.
